Sensei Rodney Cox (on left, above) is a Godan (5th degree, black belt), he is a life member of Judo Victoria Inc and an International (IJF) Kata judge and was an International (IJF) Referee having refereed four World Championships, two Commonwealth Games and an Olympic Games. He has managed the Australian Olympic Judo Team and acted as a National Technical Official for the Olympic Games. Currently a member of the Victorian Kata Commission and the Victorian Referee Commission, he was the longest standing member of the National Referee Commission and has the longest record of any current Australian referee. After fighting intervarsity for Monash University he joined the Balwyn Judo Club and has been instructing there for 46 years and chief instructor for 42 years; he holds a Working With Children card. He also founded of the Hawthorn Judo Club.

Sensei Ian Gillies (on right, above) is a Yondan (4th degree, black belt), holds the Service Award of Judo Victoria and a Judo Federation of Australia Lifetime Service Award, is an Oceania Referee and currently a member of the Victorian Referee Commission and a national Kata judge. He has served as a National Technical Official for the Olympic Games. Ian has been instructing at the Balwyn Judo Club for 33 years.

Both Sensei have achieved the Level 2 NCAS coaching licence and have competed in Masters competitions throughout the World.
